A. You order Indian bread - Roti/nan/paratha/Kulcha/c hapati with or without butter. All these are variety of flat breads made with wheat flour (plain or fine) roasted in clay oven (Tandoor) or Pan. Paratha's are also available in stuffed form where different stuffing is added before rolling the dough. There is another kind of flat bread that is deep fried called 'PURI'. With this you order dry or curry dishes made with assorted vegetables. Chose vegetable as per your liking. You may order more than one to eat at the same meals. Chose from rice dishes - Biryani's/Pulav's, plain rice or Cumin fried rice (Jeera rice) Select a Dal (lentile) dish to go with rice. Select a Raita (Yogurt dish) to go with entire meal as a dish to temper down spicy… [cont.]

Some vegetarian food rich in protein and calcium?
Q. Please tell me about some food items (vegetarian) which are rich in protein and good quality protein and should be available in India easily though anybody can answer. Thanks.
Asked by unknown - Sat Jul 4 11:22:20 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Living in India you are probably eating one of my favourite sources of protein anyway. Lentils or dahl. Lentils are a brilliant food - rich in protein, fibre and complex carbohydrates. They are a good source of calcium, phosphorus, iron, B vitamins and folic acid. They are also low calorie, low fat and cholesterol free. Eat them with rice or bread to complete the protein. For more info on good protein see this website: There are also some good lentil recipes on this page

Is it all right to feed cats on vegetarian food?
Q. I am a vegan and I have been feeding my 3-year-old cat on vegetarian food. Is it good for the cat?
Asked by Veganlicious - Fri Jun 25 11:02:02 2010 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Cats need meat to stay healthy. I'm vegetarian too but feed my cats meat because they need it. I don't like buying it but it's not right to force my choice of being veggie on them.

A. It is more ethical to be a vegetarian, but the human body was designed to be omnivorous. Too much meat is unhealthy, but small servings are fine and we don't need to eat meat every day. For me, chickens look like food. The same with lambs and deer, even though lambs are cute (sheep are not) and deer are very handsome animals. I feel the same way about most fish, but I couldn't eat a frog - I identify with them somehow, and the same goes for turtles and tortoises. I meditate daily and people have told me I'm very spiritual. Jesus said, "It doesn't matter what you put into your mouth; it matters what comes out." Seems wise to me.

Do they have good vegetarian food in Japan?
Q. I'm interested because I'm a vegetarian and I'd love to go to Japan sometime, does anyone know what the food choice is like for vegetarians over there?
Asked by The Red Death - Thu Mar 18 17:55:00 2010 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you're ok with fish, there are endless choices. Also many authentic Indian restaurants in major cities. But also if you're a vegan it's no problem. Japanese for the most part only started eating beef a hundred years ago, so there's a lot of different choices for vegans. Tofu is one, but there are a lot of these things. (also many different types of tofu.) Konnakyu is lke a potato/taro jelly. I guess for foreigners it looks nasty? but it's good. No taste, really. Shirataki. Kind of like a konnyaku but noodle-like. Really good/no taste, also no calorie. Kanten- jello-ish things. Hanten- white stuff used in Oden. - Yu doufu- hotpot with tofu and veggies. tsukemono- pickled veggies.(comes with any Japanese meal) vegitable sushi. [cont.]

A. In my opinion, it's a definite toss-up between Indian, Ethiopian and Middle Eastern. I absolutely love Indian because of the way they spice everything and there's such a wide variety of flavors. I just got back from a trip to California and there I went to a place called Rahel. . .it's an Ethiopian vegan place on Fairfax. . .and we didn't get to eat at all the restaurants I listed because we kept going back there because it was so exquisitely delicious. There's one in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as well and a couple in Chicago. Then my boyfriend is Middle Eastern, so he gets to show me what is authentic and everything and their food is amazing as well. :) There's also this restaurant in San Francisco called herbivore that has a wide and… [cont.]

Q. Cost is an issue seeing that he is 120 lbs. Non-vegetarian food IS NOT an option. Any recommendations? Okay I didn't think i needed to add this BUT dogs are NOT carnivores!!! They are omnivores. Reseach shows that dogs live longer, are heathier and have fewerallergies on a vegetarian diet.

Q. Refer me a really good lawyer ,who can help me with my case against mishandling, misrepresenting of vegetarian food by 6 top restaurants here in Toronto in last 6 days one after another, within 1 week !! Please suggest me good lawyer in Toronto or GTA who can help me on this.
Asked by Consumer - Wed Jun 3 02:40:11 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. How did they "misrepresent" the food? The vegetable soup was made with chicken broth? A "vegetarian" named dish contained fish? Personally, I'm smart enough to ask what is and isn't in the food, beyond the menu description. If the server says s/he does not know and doesn't bother to ask the kitchen staff, I not only do not get the item, but lower the tip. One time, my husband, his sister (who is vegetarian, but still eats a lot of what I would call junk), and his parents and I were at a steak restaurant. Now, I don't mind steak restaurants. I can get a baked sweet potato (usually) and a couple of other safe sides beyond the iceberg lettuce plate. The smart waitress caught on to my SIL's and my orders and asked if we were vegetarian. My SIL… [cont.]

What is German, vegetarian food like?
Q. I'm leaving for Germany on a foreign exchange in a couple of days and I am vegetarian. What kind of food can I look forward to? Thanks guys, sure, the vegetables are the same. I want to know what sort of vegetarian meals they would prepare for me. And Ruth, I'm part German myself. Please don't make such offensive comments.
Asked by FireSketch - Sun Jun 29 17:00:48 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I think you will get vegetarian dishes in any restaurant by now. From veggie Schnitzel, Knoedel and Spaetzle up to Vegetarian sausages and Veggie Braten, vegetarian "fish" etc... Germany is one of the countries with the largest offer in vegetarian and vegan food, amazing, but true. There are so called Bio-Laeden all over the place and even farmers markets offer vegetarian and ecological products. Most of the things I buy here in Greece, from burgers to different types of tofu and spreads, soy milk, soy cream etc are made in Germany. So I'm sure you can even have a typical Schlachtplatte veggie style. ;) Have a nice journey.

A. South Indian food!! I know that there are lots of indian restaurants in the UK, and I would highly recommend that you seek out an authentic South Indian place. Love love LOVE their food!! North Indian vegetarian food is also pretty tasty, but can be heavy on dairy products. If you aren't vegan you might really like it. Also, if you can find a good Ethiopian restaurant which offers vegan selections, I would highly recommend it! Yum, yum, YUM!! Thai food is also quite tasty ;)
