Does the banana diet really works?
Q. I just need to take of ten pounds and am good. But a lady told me the best diet she came up with and she tells few people is to eat only bananas and as much as you want...meaning real bananas nothing added. She even put her 16 year old daughter on it and she lost five pounds she said. And her daughter did look very healthy. She did make a point that people put poison on fruits and veggies but the banana is safe inside. But what are your opinions on this diet? And would I lose weight fast just eating banana's?

A. Any diet that limits you to one food is nonsense. You're not getting anywhere near all the nutrients you need. If you try to take weight off quickly by doing a stupid fad diet, you'll just gain it back anyway when you start eating normally again. The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to figure out how to burn more calories than you consume while still eating normally (i.e. you're satisfied and you're getting all your nutrition.) You can lose a pound a week by creating a deficit of 500 calories a day. Do this by cutting portion sizes, swapping junky empty calorie treats for fruit (here's where your bananas make sense) or other healthy snacks, and increase your activity level. If you take your time and do it right you're much… [cont.]

A. The morning Banana Diet is one by which you have any amount of bananas you want with warm water in the morning. It dictates that you do not eat anything before lunch, have anything you want for lunch, may have sweet snack mid afternoon, and have anything you want for dinner; just do not eat after 8:00pm. With the exception of the sweet snack in the mid afternoon, this sounds like a diet I had while living on a small banana farm - and I got fat. Banana should be eaten balanced with other fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. White guard is also a good fruit/vegetable to include in your diet, but not to be used as a principal cure for obesity. All natural fresh foods work together to keep us healthy and to regulate our fat storage if eaten… [cont.]

Would it be possible to substitute a banana for a plantain on the Morning Banana Diet? ?
Q. I hate the taste of bananas, however, I love the taste of baked or boiled plantains. Plantains are just the baked/boiled version of the raw sweet ones. Any suggestions would be appreciated???

A. I read about it too & was shocked. I have been inadvertantly following this diet for years & it has not worked! Seriously, how can it possibly work with just a banana for breakfast, then anything you want for lunch and dinner. The good part is no dessert & in bed before midnight. THOSE are the things that will help you lose weight (but not a ton).

I have been working the Morning Banana Diet exactly. In one week, I gained 5 ponds. WHY?
Q. The diet is 2 bananas with a cup of warm water for breakfast. Anything you want for lunch (but I stuck with Lean Cuisines 300 cals) and a 3pm snack (something sweet if you wanr) and whatever you want for dinner (again I stuck with a Lean Cuisine). Do not eat after 8. Go to sleep by midnight. Dairy and artificial sweeteners discouraged. No desserts after meals.

A. Some diets CAN work. Some can't. For instance, this banana diet, Im assuming it is something to do with making bananas one of the only things you eat? If that is so, that kind of a diet will not work to your advantage. Your body needs all the healthy food and vitamins it can get to stay healthy. Only eating a certain kind of food can not only become a starvation diet but it's certainly isn't keeping you healthy. When your body lacks, it picks up the speed in other areas that you don't want to. I dont know all the terminology but I know when for instance your not getting enough nutrition, you body starts to store fat and what not.. which doesn't help you lose weight. All in all, a diet fad like this probably doesn't work right and isn't… [cont.]

A. Banana Diet Tips and Warning 1. Warning: The banana diet has nothing to do with eating bananas as your main meal. You'd be crazy if you ate bananas as your meals. Uh, you need protein and fats as well for your diet. If you ate nothing but bananas, you'd so many nutrient, mineral, and vitamin deficiencies. Besides, this would be pure torture to eat only bananas. I know you're more intelligent than that, but I just wanted to be sure for those who get a little too aggressive with their dieting tactics. I struggled to lose weight for years until discovering this one secret. => Allison Blackwood Diet and Fitness Enthusiast :)

A. you eat a banana in the morning, and drink one glass of water of a room temperature. It's supposed to make the banana spread in your stomach. You eat nothing else till lunch. You eat whatever you want for lunch and whatever you want for dinner but no desert. You do not snack, but are allowed one little snack at 3 p.m. You do not eat after 8 p.m. You go to bed before midnight, never later than this. There should be an interval of 4 hours between dinner and going to bed.
