Does the banana diet really works?
Q. I just need to take of ten pounds and am good. But a lady told me the best diet she came up with and she tells few people is to eat only bananas and as much as you want...meaning real bananas nothing added. She even put her 16 year old daughter on it and she lost five pounds she said. And her daughter did look very healthy. She did make a point that people put poison on fruits and veggies but the banana is safe inside. But what are your opinions on this diet? And would I lose weight fast just eating banana's?

A. Any diet that limits you to one food is nonsense. You're not getting anywhere near all the nutrients you need. If you try to take weight off quickly by doing a stupid fad diet, you'll just gain it back anyway when you start eating normally again. The only way to lose weight and keep it off is to figure out how to burn more calories than you consume while still eating normally (i.e. you're satisfied and you're getting all your nutrition.) You can lose a pound a week by creating a deficit of 500 calories a day. Do this by cutting portion sizes, swapping junky empty calorie treats for fruit (here's where your bananas make sense) or other healthy snacks, and increase your activity level. If you take your time and do it right you're much… [cont.]

Does anyone know if the banana diet works ?
Q. I heard about it on the morning news. Apparently you eat a banana for breakfast with a large glass of room temp water. Then you eat whatever you want for lunch and dinner, no snacks, no dessert, you don't eat after 8 pm and you have to be in bed by midnight. Has anyone tried this and does it work ?

Has anyone ever tried the "BANANA DIET"? How did it go for you?
Q. The banana diet is to basically eat 1 or more bananas in the morning with a large glass of room temperature/lukewarm water. Eat anything you want for lunch and dinner. Have a snack at 3pm. Eat dinner before 8pm and go to bed by midnight. NOW... I know that it sounds a little unreasonable in some ways which is why I'm hoping someone has tried it and can tell me how it worked for them. THANKS

A. Wow, I didn't know that was actually a diet! Apparently, I've been on a diet for years and never knew it..haha. But yea so I do that, and umm I guess it works, I haven't gained any weight since 8th grade (I'm going to be a junior), infact I've lost a few pounds and tightened the tummy ALOT. I think I'm in pretty good shape and that's exactly how I eat everyday.

Would it be possible to substitute a banana for a plantain on the Morning Banana Diet? ?
Q. I hate the taste of bananas, however, I love the taste of baked or boiled plantains. Plantains are just the baked/boiled version of the raw sweet ones. Any suggestions would be appreciated???

A. I read about it too & was shocked. I have been inadvertantly following this diet for years & it has not worked! Seriously, how can it possibly work with just a banana for breakfast, then anything you want for lunch and dinner. The good part is no dessert & in bed before midnight. THOSE are the things that will help you lose weight (but not a ton).

What's better for a diet: a Banana, Mango or Apple?
Q. My sister is almost 12 (in a month) and she is starting a 5-day diet. She weights 98 pounds and is about 4"11. Same routine every day: An orange and Yoplait yogurt for breakfast... A Banana or Apple or Mango for lunch... A Salad for dinner.. (but she isn't sure which of the three for lunch...)
Asked by Legally Brunette - Sun Mar 29 23:33:38 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You should not be worrying about dieting at your age. You should be focusing on just making healthy choices, and excersising regularly. But, to answer your question, I can only say that bananas are the worst fruit you can eat. They are really high in sugar, and the riper they are the more sure they contain. So, if you're gonna eat a banana, eat it while it's still a little green. With that said, the mango and apple are both good fruits. But, the best kind of diet you could ever be in is one with variety. Not because you will get bored, but because different foods have different kinds of vitamins and minerals for you. If you just stick to one, then you will become deficient in the other. It is a good idea to pick different colors of fruits… [cont.]

A. The simple answer is no. A 7-8" raw banana is 27 grams of carbs (3 grams dietary fiber). This is above the 20 grams per day allowed during the induction phase.

A. I'm reading an article on it and it says: "a TV program featured a singer who had lost 15 pounds in just six weeks". (Not bad for a banana diet) "A banana (or as many as you want) and room temperature water for breakfast; eat anything you like for lunch and dinner (by 8 p.m.). A three o'clock snack is okay, but no desserts after meals, and you have to go to bed before midnight." "The human body has three essential nutrients - carbohydrates, fat and protein - , he says, and "the golden rule is to balance these three nutrients and a daily calorie intake. Once you understand that, you don't have to be swayed by the fad diet any more."

A. Banana Diet Tips and Warning 1. Warning: The banana diet has nothing to do with eating bananas as your main meal. You'd be crazy if you ate bananas as your meals. Uh, you need protein and fats as well for your diet. If you ate nothing but bananas, you'd so many nutrient, mineral, and vitamin deficiencies. Besides, this would be pure torture to eat only bananas. I know you're more intelligent than that, but I just wanted to be sure for those who get a little too aggressive with their dieting tactics. I struggled to lose weight for years until discovering this one secret. => Allison Blackwood Diet and Fitness Enthusiast :)
